Meriwether Principal Leila Davis

Hello Explorer Families!

As we approach spring break and start to look at student growth for the school year, it is amazing to me how much growth our Explorers have done! I hope that you are seeing this growth at home too.

A reminder that we get started with learning activities first thing in the morning so it is really important that students are here on time each day. On Time, Every Day, All Day! It is the Meriwether Way!

Every morning, we begin our day in the gym for pledges. Along with the pledge of allegiance, we do our Kids at Hope adult pledge, otherwise known as our treasure hunter pledge, and the students do their Kids at Hope pledge. The student pledge states –

“I am a kid at hope. I am talented, smart, and capable of success. I have dreams for the future, and I will climb to reach those goals and dreams every day. All children are capable of success. No exceptions, no excuses!”

We start our day this way for many reasons, the most important being that our staff believes that every child at Meriwether is capable of anything they put their minds to. We want to make sure every student believes this as well. I encourage you to talk to your child(ren) about what their dreams are for the future. Not only what they want to be when they grow up, but what do they want their life to look like? Do they want to live somewhere warm? Do they want to live in the city or the country? Do they want pets and/or children? What hobbies do they want to pursue? The more we talk to children about their goals and dreams, the more they will be able to visualize the future they hope to achieve!
Thank you for your support with keeping our drop off and pick up area safe. Reminder – Please do not park or get out of your car in the drop off lane. If you need to get out of your car, please pull into the parking lot. Please drive slow while on campus as well. Your help to keep all of our students safe is greatly appreciated!

Meriwether’s Mission: At Meriwether Elementary we are committed to empower, engage, and educate all children in our care.

Meriwether’s Vision: To foster learning, community, and connections in order to ensure all students are inspired to meet their potential.
