Student, Parent and Community Involvement

Throughout the school year, we used our School Improvement plan as a guide to create and strengthen the partnerships between our school, our families, and our community. Our Meriwether learning community benefited enormously from the many volunteers who gave countless hours in the support of our students and staff. The Meriwether Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has supported field trips again this year.

At Meriwether we’ve enjoyed a relationship with our soldier-volunteers who participated in many school events including the Math Night, Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Fair, and the always popular Field Day.

We are committed to student achievement and learning at Meriwether Elementary. We recognize the vital role parents and family members play in our children’s learning. In our School Improvement Plan, we laid out specific strategies aimed at helping our students achieve at higher levels.

  • Targeting students to receive intentional instruction in small group settings as identified by assessment scores, teacher referral, and academic performance.
  • Communicating consistently with families about events and their student's progress.
  • Providing many extended learning opportunities such as a math program, and STEM program that took place after school for students in grades 3, 4, and 5.
  • Using a pro-active approach to school-wide discipline including targeting of expectations and the MW Pledge: respectful, responsible, safe and courageous.
